User more than one image with IWC

I got a bit lost today with the time...well and the day (that's what happens when I'm not at work!) So I'm a little late posting this.

The current challenge over at IKES WORLD CHALLENGES is to create something using more than one image. For my piece I went for some colouring therapy and created this scene using images from IKE's Zombie Pet shop sets.

Double whammy

I've got 2 DT hats on with today's post. We have got a brand new challenge over at Quoth the Raven and it's my day to share over at Smudgy Antics. The theme at Quoth the Raven is Dream On so I used the Smeared Ink Quoth the Raven rubber set and the words from the E.A.Poe poem A Dream within a Dream to make this journal page.

Paper Piecing with IWC

We are into week 2 now with the paper piecing challenge over at Ikes World Challenges, I have got a journal page to share today using Bottles set of 4.

Wednesday, 25 February 2015

I was totally gutted when I realised that my comment hadn't gone through for the bloody valentine hop, so instead I'm sharing what I made today. It's a double page spread with a tag insert, the stamps I used are from the Bloody Valentine set and the Love Li'l Grumpies set.

There are only a few days left to get your entries into this months challenge. You can join in the fun by adding your Smeared Ink makeshere

Breathe - A Dedication to Susan Salyer

I've been doing more journaling recently, I rarely share these with anyone though as they are normally personal to me and often include painting or doodling which I know I'm not very good at. I purposely don't try to make things look real, I'm no artist and don't really know where to start, so instead I just do my own think like always and what happens, happens. Anyway I am waffling back to the point, it was a dear friend Susan Salyer who first encouraged me to journal, she had a confidence in me that I didn't, she is such a wonderful woman who has been through some hard times and is currently grieving. I wanted to make something with Susan in mind, and although this page didn't turn out how I had planned in my head I had to go with it and this is what I got.
The idea was that no matter how terrible things are, just breathe one breathe at a time, take one step at a time and eventually it will become easier and it will all be okay.

I will add at this point that the black and blue splatters wasn't supposed to happen, I was taking the lid off the black paint and 2 big blogs full onto the page, I had a brief moment of muttering, before thinking oh what the heck and flicked more on, and then added some blue flicks too.

So there you have it, Susan know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and that I love you lots.

Smeared and Smudged Members Hop

It's time for the February Smeared and Smudged members hop. The theme this month is cracked and broken. I have made a mixed media piece to share.

I started by adding lots of modeling paste to a piece of card (was a cereal box) then used the end of a paintbrush to scratch out the deep cracks. When it was dry it got a coat of gold paint, then I went into all the cracks with black before adding a thin layer of white (as you can see some of the black hadn't dried properly so I ended up with a grey colour). While that was drying I started on the heart, this was cut from a piece of card which I covered in a couple of layers of red tissue paper, scrunching it up a little as I added it. Both the heart and the black cracks had crackle accents applied to them and were left again to dry. While I was waiting for them I heat embossed the wings from the Smeared Ink Quoth the Raven rubber set, and did several other projects as I hate waiting for things to dry. To finish up the heart I added a little piece of joint tape and a light rubbing of black soot distress ink before adding it to the background and sticking on the words from the Edgar Allan Poe Poem A Dream, which brings me to a reminder that the current challenge at Quoth the Raven is for the Love of Poe and Smudgy Antics is always anything goes with a Smeared Ink stamp, we would love it if you came and played along this month.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
